Financial Literacy

April is National Financial Literacy Month. In today's world, financial literacy is one of the most valuable skills to succeed. Being able to handle your money well, invest it properly, and create new economic opportunities for yourself all comes with having the right mindset and education about financial literacy. Most adults will tell you to just save your money and you will eventually be rich. NO! The money you have saved in your piggy bank or drawer will not be the same cash value as it is in 10 years, 20 years, or when you have children or grandchildren. You should, however, not spend your money endlessly without a care. In your youth, it serves you well to be a bit frugal. When all your friends are getting a plain white T-shirt for $500, don't be afraid to buy the $10 shirt from Target. Trust me... later on you will be able to buy the luxurious things but why waste your money now when you're gonna grow and the way you dress does not determine your friendships and life. Every little opportunity you have to save and earn money should be on your radar. Create a budget for yourself and limit yourself to one expensive purchase per month. This will help you be financially smart and that is something that will go a long way in your journey to success. Sign my petition to make financial literacy a mandatory class in high school.

Wealth is the ability to fully experience life. ~ Henry David Thoreau
